ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ของมะขามป้อม Phyllanthus emblica L.
เป็นพืชวงศ์ EUPHORBIACEAE
ลักษณะของมะขามป้อม
มะขามป้อมนั้นเป็นไม้ทนแล้ง (น้ำน้อยก็ปลูกได้ มะขามป้อมเอาอยู่ แต่ถ้าน้ำมากเหมือนที่ กทม.ตอนปี 54 ไม่รู้จะเอาอยู่หรือเปล่า) ต้นมะขามป้อมสูงประมาณ 10-20 เมตร ลำต้นเป็นสีเทาอมน้ำตาล ใบเป็นใบเรียงเดี่ยว เรียวสลับกัน ออกดอกเป็นช่อ ผลอ่อนมีสีเหลืองเขียว พอเริ่มแก่ผลจะเป็นสีเหลืองอมน้ำตาล
สรรพคุณทางด้านสมุนไพรไทยของมะขามป้อม
เมื่อเรารู้จักกับลักษณะของต้นมะขามป้อมแล้ว คราวนี้ก็ถึงที ที่เราจะรู้จักกับสรรพคุณของมะขามป้อมบ้าง มาดูกันเลยนะครับว่ามะขามป้อมมีดียังไง
ผลสด รับประทานวันละ 1-2 ลูก ทำให้ชุ่มคอ คิดว่าถ้าเคยทานคงจำความรู้สึกได้ ตอนกินจะรู้สึกเปรี้ยวๆฝาดๆ แต่พอทานน้ำตามเท่านั้นแหละ จะรู้สึกหวานและชุ่มคอมาก ตามตำราสมุนไพรไทย มีสูตรอยู่ว่า ให้นำมะขามป้อมผลสดจำนวน 10 ผล มาบดและคั้นน้ำผสมน้ำผึ้ง เติมเกลือนิดหน่อย ดื่มวันละครั้ง จะเป็นยา แก้ไอ ขับเสมหะชั้นเลิศ นอกจากนั้นยังทำให้ร่างกายสดชื่น ต้านอนุมูลอิสระ (ตำรายาสมุนไพรไทยไม่ได้บอกถึงการต้านอนุมูลอิสระเอาไว้นะครับ เรื่องต้านอนมูลอิสระเป็นข้อมูลจากงานวิจัยสมัยใหม่ )
ผลมะขามป้อมตากแห้ง แม้จะตากแห้ง แต่ยังคงฤทธิ์ของสมุนไพรไทยเอาไว้อยู่ การตากแห้งเป้นวิธีถนอมอาหารอย่างหนึ่ง เพื่อนำมาใช้เป็นยา เวลาใช้ให้นำมาผลตากแห้งมาประมาณ 3 ผล แช่น้ำร้อนประมาณ 1 แก้วแล้วชงดื่ม โดยอาจผสมน้ำผึ้ง เติมเกลือเล็กน้อยเพื่อเพิ่มรสชาติ โดยให้ดื่มตอนท้องว่างหรือก่อนอาหารเช้า จะทำให้ละลายเสมหะ แก้เจ็บคอ ทำให้ชุ่มคอ
ผลสดหรือผลตากแห้ง อันนี้เป็นอีกสูตรไม่จำกัดว่าเป็นผลสด หรือผลตากแห้ง โดยสูตรนี้จะใช้ผลมะขามป้อมประมาณ 15 ลูก ต้มน้ำหนึ่งกา โดยดื่มต่างน้ำ เป็นยาบำรุงธาตุ (คำว่าธาตุในทางแพทย์แผนโบราณ หมายถึงระบบย่อยอาหาร และลำไส้นะครับ) ขับปัสสาวะ แก้หวัดคัดจมูก และบรรเทาอาการเจ็บคอ
งานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับมะขามป้อม
นอกจากมะขามป้อมจะมีสรรพคุณทางสมุนไพรแล้ว ปัจจุบันก็มีการวิจัยถึงสรรพคุณของมะขามป้อมในเชิงลึกมากขึ้น เช่น
- มีสารต้านเชื้อไวรัส มีฤทธิ์ในการยับยั้งเอนไซม์ HIV – 1 Reverse Trascriptase (เหมือนในยาต้านไวรัสเอดส์)
- ผลของมะขามป้อม ลดการเกิดแผลในกระเพาะอาหาร จะไปลดการเกิดปฏิกิริยาออกซิเดชั่น ที่จะทำให้เกิดแผลในกระเพาะอาหาร
- ผลของมะขามป้อมมีสารบางตัวที่ ยับยั้งการเกิดความเป็นพิษ ในตับ และไต ที่เกิดเนื่องมาจาก โลหะหนัก เช่นตะกั่ว แดดเมียม (คนที่ทำงานในภาคอุตสาหกรรมมีความเสี่ยงต่อโลหะหนัก) ซึ่งวัดโดยการทดลองในหนูทดลอง
- มะขามป้อม มีสารที่ ลดการกลายพันธุ์ ลดการเกิดเกิด โครโมโซมที่ผิดปกติ ทำให้อัตราการกลายพันธ์ลดลง (การกลายกลายพันธ์นี้พูดถึงเรื่องความสมบูรณ์ของบุตร และการเกิดโรคทางพันธุกรรมต่างๆ)
