วันนี้ผมเรื่องราวของมะพร้าวมาฝาก ผมเชื่อว่าทุกคนคงรู้จักมะพร้าวแน่ๆ เพราะขนมไทยเกือบทุกชนิด จะมีการนำพืชชนิดนี้เป็นส่วนประกอบ ไม่ใส่ลงไปตรงๆ เช่นขูดเป็นฝอย ก็ใส่ลงไปทางอ้อมผ่านทางน้ำกระทิ แต่ใครจะรู้ว่ามะพร้าว ก็จัดเป็นสมุนไพรไทย ที่มีคุณค่าเช่นกันเดียว มารู้จักมะพร้าวกันนะครับ
- ชื่อทางวิทยาศาสตร์ของมะพร้าว : Cocos nucifera L. var. nucifera
- ชื่อในภาษาอังกฤษ : Coconut (ส่วนน้ำกระทิ เรียก coconut milk นะครับ)
- ชื่อวงศ์ : Palmae (หรือง่ายๆคือเป็นพืชตระกูลปาล์มนั่นเอง)
- ชื่อตามภูมิภาคต่างๆของไทย : เนื่องจากมะพร้าวขึ้นอยู่ทุกภูมิภาค จึงมีชื่อเรียกต่างๆ กัน เช่น ดุง (จันทบุรี) เฮ็ดดุง (เพชรบูรณ์) โพล (กาญจนบุรี) คอส่า (แม่ฮ่องสอน) พร้าว (นครศรีธรรมราช) หมากอุ๋น
ลักษณะของต้นมะพร้าว
- ลำต้น : ไม้ยืนต้น สูง 20-30 เมตร(สูงที่สุดในพืชตระกูลปาล์ม) ลำต้นกลม ตั้งตรง ไม่แตกกิ่งก้าน เปลือกต้นแข็ง สีเทา ขรุขระ มีรอยแผลใบ
- ใบ : เป็นใบประกอบแบบขนนก ออกเรียงเวียน รูปพัดจีบ กว้าง 3.5- ซม. ยาว 80-120 ซม. โคนใบและปลายใบแหลม ขอบใบเรียบ แผ่นใบเรียบสีเขียวแก่เป็นมัน โคนก้านใบใหญ่แผ่เป็นกาบหุ้มลำต้น
- ดอก : ออกเป็นช่อแขนงตามซอกใบ ดอกเล็ก กลีบดอกที่ลดรูปมี 4-6 อัน ในช่อหนึ่งมีทั้งดอกเพศผู้และเพศเมีย ดอกเพศผู้อยู่ปลายช่อ ดอกเพศเมียอยู่บริเวณโคนช่อดอก ไม่มีก้านดอก ผล รูปทรงกลมหรือรี ผิวเรียบ
- ผล : ผลอ่อนมีสีเขียว ผลแก่มีสีน้ำตาล เปลือกชั้นกลางเป็นเส้นใยนุ่ม ชั้นในแข็งเป็นกะลา ชั้นต่อไปเป็นเนื้อผลสีขาวนุ่ม ข้างในมีน้ำใส
สรรพคุณทางด้านสมุนไพรไทย
- เปลือกผล – รสฝาดขม สุขุม (ตามตำราโบราณเขาเรียกแบบนี้จริงๆครับ คงประมาณฝาดลึกๆ) ใช้ห้ามเลือด แก้ปวด เลือดกำเดาออก โรคกระเพาะ และแก้อาเจียน
- กะลา – แก้ปวดเอ็น ปวดกระดูก
- ถ่านจากกะลา – รับประทานแก้ท้องเสีย และดูดสารพิษต่างๆ (ปัจจุบันมีถ่านแบบใช้ทานดูสารพิษ แก้ท้องเสียจ่ายให้ผู้ป่วยใน รพ. แล้วนะครับ ข้อนี้อาจไม่จำเป็นต้องทำตามก็ได้)
- น้ำมันที่ได้จากการเผากะลา – ใช้ทา บาดแผล และโรคผิวหนัง แก้กลาก อุดฟัน แก้ปวดฟัน
- เนื้อมะพร้าว – รสชุ่ม สุขุม ไม่มีพิษ รับประทานบำรุงกำลัง ขับพยาธิ
- น้ำมันจากเนื้อมะพร้าว – ใช้ทาแก้กลาก และบาดแผลที่เกิดจากความเย็นจัด หรือถูกความร้อน และใช้ผสมทาแก้โรคผิวหนังต่างๆ นอกจากที่ยังใช้เป็นอาหาร ทาแก้ผิวหนัง แห้ง แตกเป็นขุย และชนิดที่บริสุทธิ์มากๆ ใช้เป็นตัวทำลายในยาฉีดได้
- น้ำมะพร้าว – รสชุ่ม หวานสุขุม ไม่มีพิษ แก้กระหาย ทำให้จิตใจชุ่มชื่น แก้พิษ อาเจียนเป็นเลือด ท้องเสีย บวมน้ำ ขับปัสสาวะ แก้นิ่ว ในอดีตยามจำเป็น น้ำมะพร้าวอ่อนอายุประมาณ 7 เดือน เคยใช้ฉีดเข้าเส้นเลือดแก้ภาวะการเสียน้ำได้ (ไม่แนะนำนะครับ ปัจจุบันนี้ให้รักษากับแพทย์แผนปัจจุบันดีกว่า)
- ราก – รสฝาด หวาน ใช้ขับปัสสาวะ และแก้ท้องเสีย ต้มน้ำอมแก้ปากเจ็บ
- เปลือกต้น – เผาเป็นเถ้า ใช้ทาแก้หิด และสีฟันแก้ปวดฟัน
- สารสีน้ำตาล – ไหลออกมาแข็งตัวที่ใต้ใบ ใช้ห้ามเลือดได้ดี
การประยุกต์ใช้อื่นๆ
มะพร้าวเก็บในช่วงผลแก่ และนำมาเคี่ยวเป็นน้ำมัน ทาแก้ปวดเมื่อย และขัดตามเส้นเอ็น เจือกับยาที่มีรสฝาด รักษาบาดแผลได้ใช้น้ำมะพร้าว มาปรุงเป็นยารักษาแผลไฟไหม้ น้ำร้อนลวกมานาน วิธีใช้ทำได้โดย การนำเอาน้ำมันมะพร้าว 1 ส่วน ในภาชนะคนพร้อมๆ กับเติมน้ำปูนใส 1 ส่วน โดยเติมทีละส่วนพร้อมกับคนไปด้วย คนจนเข้ากันดี แล้วทาที่แผลบ่อยๆ
งานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับมะพร้าว
อ้างอิงจากงานเขียนของคุณพนิตตา สวัสดี สำนักงานคณะกรรมการวิจัยแห่งชาติ วช. นะครับ(ขอขอบคุณมา ณ ที่นี้ ) ซึ่งได้กล่าวถึงประโยชน์ของน้ำมะพร้าวอีกหลายประการคือ
- การดื่มน้ำมะพร้าวทุกวันจะช่วยชะลออาการอัลไซเมอร์ได้ โดยผลงานวิจัยของ ดร.นิซาอูดะห์ ระเด่นอาหมัด อาจารย์ประจำ ภาควิชากายวิภาคศาสตร์ คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ พบว่าในน้ำมะพร้าวมีฮอร์โมนคล้ายฮอร์โมนเพศหญิง หรือเอสโตร-เจน (Estrogen) สูง ซึ่งมีผลช่วยชะลอการเกิดโรคอัลไซเมอร์หรือความจำเสื่อมในสตรีวัยทอง
- การดื่มน้ำมะพร้าวเป็นประจำทุกวัน ยังสามารถช่วยสมานแผล ทำให้แผลหายเร็วขึ้นกว่าปกติ และไม่ทิ้งรอยแผลเป็นอีกด้วย
- น้ำมะพร้าวช่วยเสริมสร้างความสวยใสของผิวพรรณ ทำให้เปล่งปลั่งและขาวนวลขึ้นจากภายในสู่ ภายนอกเพราะในน้ำมะพร้าวมีเอสโตรเจนอยู่ ซึ่งมีส่วนสำคัญต่อการสร้างคอลลาเจนและอีลาสติน ทำให้ผิวกระชับ ยืดหยุ่น และชะลอการเกิดริ้วรอยก่อนวัยได้
- น้ำมะพร้าวสามารถกระตุ้นการเจริญเติบโตและแบ่งเซลล์ได้ดี
- น้ำมะพร้าวมีฤทธิ์ขับปัสสาวะ ขับของเสีย หรือสารพิษออกจากร่างกาย (คล้ายๆ กับการทำดีท็อกซ์ ) จึงช่วยทำให้ผิวพรรณผ่องใส อีกทั้งความเป็นด่างของน้ำมะพร้าวยังช่วยปรับสมดุลของร่างกายในช่วงที่มีความเป็นกรดสูง ทำให้กลไกการทำงานของระบบภายในเป็นปกติ
